Please see comments below. In addition, the grounds of the villa are extensive and lovely, and it is within a gated area, so secure. the bathrooms appeared recently renovated and were lovely. The owner's parents were on hand to help with a few queries we had. However, they spoke no English which made communication difficult.
The property is very homely in a nice rural setting. There are cats, goats and hens wandering around the garden amongst fruit trees. The swimming pool is really nice to cool off in, and there is an outdoor sheltered area for the day or night time with a dining table and lilo's. Internally, the house is very traditional and cosy. The kitchen is well equipped with all modern conveniences to hand.
There is a pizzeria in the village and a small supermarket, Sigma. There is an Iper Carrfoure around 15mins drive away. The landlord lives in a small unit adjacent to the main house.
We had a lovely, quiet holiday in this house.

We had a fantastic time in the hills outside Lucca. Our hosts were gracious, responsive and extremely attentive, we felt very looked after throughout our stay there. The views are beautiful. The drive up the hill was a little windy and it was a bit tricky to find on day one, but after that it was a great stay.

The access road is a bit tricky, being a country lane.

Our stay at Villa Poggio Cuccule was nothing short of magical. Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, this property offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by Paola. the warm, generous, and endlessly gracious owner, whose hospitality elevated our entire experience.
The villa itself is immaculate: clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. Each of the three houses on the property is beautifully equipped, offering privacy and comfort while still feeling connected to the larger estate. The big kitchen quickly became our favorite gathering spot, filled with laughter, wine, and the irresistible aroma of homemade pizza from the outdoor oven (which we used constantly!).
There’s so much to do onsite, from relaxing under olive trees to exploring the grounds and the peaceful atmosphere makes it hard to leave. That said, if you plan to explore the surrounding area, we strongly recommend having a car. The walk to town is about 90 minutes and absolutely stunning, but it’s not for everyone. There is a bus, though it runs only twice a week with one trip per day.
Still, none of that detracts from the experience. Villa Poggio Cuccule is a slice of heaven, and Paola is the heart of it. We left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already dreaming of our return.

Wir haben eine Woche in diesem wunderschönen Häuschen in der Toskana verbracht und uns rundum wohlgefühlt. Das Haus ist bestens ausgestattet und bietet alles, was man braucht. Besonders begeistert hat uns das traumhafte Grundstück mit dem gepflegten Swimmingpool sowie die atemberaubende Aussicht inklusive unvergesslicher Sonnenaufgänge. Durch die Lage ist das Haus ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in die Toskana, sei es in charmante kleine Dörfer oder Städte wie Florenz und Siena. Die Besitzer sind unglaublich herzlich und hilfsbereit, zugleich hatten wir jederzeit unsere Privatsphäre. Ein absoluter Wohlfühlort, den wir sehr empfehlen können.

We were particularly impressed by the beautiful grounds with the well-maintained swimming pool and the breathtaking views, including unforgettable sunrises. The location makes the house an ideal starting point for excursions in Tuscany, whether to charming little villages or cities such as Florence and Siena. The owners are incredibly warm and helpful, yet we had our privacy at all times. An absolute feel-good place that we can highly recommend.
