Villa Poggio Bartoli Country Resort

Poggio Bartoli is a splendid Medici villa dating back to the mid 15th century nestled in the hills of Vicchio in Mugello. The villa was constructed by the Florentine noble family Bartoli who were appointed by the Medici as governors of the Vicariato of Scarperia where we can still admire the family crest on the façade of the Palazzo dei Vicari.
It was originally used as a country home and hunting lodge since the area was particularly rich in wild game. It is well known that the Medici family were fond of huntsmanship and practiced the sport in Mugello together with other noble Florentine families.
In the following centuries the ownership of the villa passed to several noble Tuscan families, the most illustrious being the Baldocci, Papiani and Spinelli whose crests are seen on the façade. In the middle of the eighteenth century, the villa and its lands were purchased by the Peratoner family of the Swiss aristocracy. Piero Peratoner, an agronomist, was responsible for introducing new and innovative methods of cultivation and crop rotation utilizing the 1000 hectares of agricultural land which were part of the property.

Swimming pool: Pool (8x18 m, depth 1.40 m-max 2.50 m), open from May to end of September.
Parking: On premises for 20 cars.

Assistance: There is a separate owner’s quarters on the grounds and the reception desk is open daily for reservations or any other information that the guest should require.  Languages spoken: Italian, English.
