Beskrivelse af Ejendommen

The rural complex of "Villa il Castellaccio" is set in a beautiful panoramic position in the heart of Chianti, between Florence, Siena and Arezzo. It has a main Villa; a country residence of the Late 19th century, and 4 apartments, all recently reconstructed from the original farm buildings and furnished in style and comfort with all mod-cons including Wi-Fi covering the entire property. Each apartment has it’s own entrance on a different side of the complex from the others giving each a sensation of privacy. The apartments are airy with large spacious rooms comfortably and stylishly furnished. The property can sleep a total of 20 people in 9 bedrooms with 10 baths.
DistancesThe nearest villages are Lucolena and Dudda (1km) for small food stores trattorias and pizzerias. 8 km away are Figline Valdarno and Greve in Chianti (Supermarkets ,all gender shops, tennis and horse riding). At Figline station you can hop on a train and get into Florence in 20 minutes-(we give you timetables on arrival).
At Guest’s DisposalAll bedrooms have their own private bathrooms with wc and Shower. Kitchens are equipped with oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, toaster. Each apartment has a patio/veranda with table and chairs for eating outside. Other amenities include; Wi-Fi, Washing-machine, Satellite TV ,stereo, hair dryer. Iron and ironing board. The apartments share the big garden terrace with the main swimming pool surrounded by lawns and olive trees with more tables and chairs, umbrellas and sunbeds.
All guests staying at Villa Il Castellaccio share our free car park,
gardens and outdoor swimming-pool (15 x 8) (open from May to September and longer if weather permits!). There is also a pizza & barbecue area with wood burning oven and terrace for eating outside.
Each unit has its own central heating and hot water; a baby bed is available on request.
In the apartments linen is supplied.

The Chianti area itself is all at your feet!- explore the medieval towns and castles, enjoy the food and of course the wine! If you are keen walker there are many beautiful walks in the immediate area.

Trips further afield- day trips or half day excursions to places like Rome, Siena , Venice and the Cinque terre ( to name but a few).With special permits enabling our drivers to go directly into the Historical city centers and often right up to the main monuments and places of interest, means you can concentrate your time enjoying the sights without the hassle of parking, traffic and endless walking.
Cooking classes and Dinners- Choose an evening and enjoy a wonderful, truly Italian meal and for those who love cooking have a cooking class with our chef who comes to the villa on appointment and prepares a menu of your choice ( he also clears up afterwards !) Don’t miss this highlight during your stay.
Wine tasting-in our wine cellars enjoy tasting the wine of the vines you see out of your windows!
There is also a small museum of old farming implements to see.

Each apartment has its own outdoor eating area with table and chairs.All guests have access to the main gardens (immaculately kept with, lawns, sunbeds, umbrellas, tables and chairs) and swimming pool(open from May to Sept). There is also the possibility to use a barbecue terrace with access to a kitchen complete with wood burning oven to make Pizzas this also has tables and chairs for eating outside.

Don’t know where to begin describing this! The whole of the Chianti area is stunningly beautiful with medieval towns, castles, cellars to go wine-tasting, eating places for local specialities, local arts & crafts, wildlife parks and there is always something going on ; exhibitions, folk festivals (called sagre), gastronomic events, antique fairs and colourful local markets. Nearby are the main cities of Tuscany ; Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Arezzo, Lucca, Pisa, Volterra. with their sights, museums, shops etc. Not to forget also the 2 fashion outlets The Mall and Prada Outlets at nearby Figline and further north at Barberino di Mugello.
In a day you can even get to the coast for places like Le Cinque Terre and romantic Porto Venere .

Wow!! It was fantastic in every way. The property is gorgeous. it is well maintained, well located, and beauty of the flowers, lavender, rosemary, olive groves, and vineyards is breathtaking. It is in a great location to get to Florence and the Chianti towns, like San Gimignano. Leonardo is a great host,very welcoming and helpful. I had to tear myself away. I wish I could be there tomorrow!

This is a lovely spot in one of the most beautiful spots in Tuscany. Our apartment was spacious and well furnished. Be aware that this is a stone building; it is quite cool indoors, at least in May. We did not figure out how to turn the heat on, so bring sweaters. The house is 20 minutes drive from nearest towns, and it takes about an hour to get into Florence. I was not aware of how remote it was when I booked it, so would like people to be aware of that. Also, the innkeeper, Leonardo, is very nice, and was quite accommodating. I would highly recommend it, and would gladly stay here again.

Bel environnement; L'appartement très spacieux plutôt bien pour un couple avec 2-3 enfants à partir de 2 ans, mais manque un espace de convivialité (salon avec canapé...). Plutôt inadapté pour des personnes à mobilité réduite ou petits enfants (escaliers).

[English translation courtesy of Easy Reserve] Beautiful setting. The apartment is spacious and pretty well for a couple with 2-3 children from 2 years, but misses a convivial area (living room with sofa ...). Rather unsuitable for people with reduced mobility or small children (stairs).

We stayed in the Castellacio 1 for a week in mid-October. Prior to our arrival, the owner and his assistant (Leonardo and Roxanna) were very responsive to information we requested. We arrived later than the check-in time but they were happy to wait for us. The place was very clean, exactly as the property description in the website and in the pictures and pretty much offered a peaceful respite overlooking the lovely vineyard and olive plantation. We loved the pool and the barbecue area. We were also able to use the fireplace and wood was readily available. Our kitchen was well equipped with all the necessary kitchen utensils. The villa is about 15-20 minutes away from the grocery and gas station. It is also very centrally located since we drove around to small towns and for wine tasting in the Chianti area, Sienna, Montalcino and also had our touristy itineraries going to Pisa, Lucolena and Firenze (by train). Roxanna provided us with maps, suggestions of nice places to see, how to get around different places and also places to eat which are 10 minutes away from the villa. I would highly recommend Casa de Popolo in Lucolena which was also recommended by Leonardo. He was also kind to call and make reservations for our dinner in the nearby restaurants. We also loved the touch of having your own mini wine bar in the villa (at very reasonable prices) plus the welcome wine gift. We also ended up buying wines produced by Castellaccio because they are really good.

For the very reasonable price that we paid for our stay in this charming villa and the warm welcome from Leonardo and Roxanna, we definitely would go to Tuscany and stay again in this villa.

Mooi appartement met groot en rustig zwembad in prachtige streek. Goede locatie qua uitvalswegen, grote supermarkt en wijngaarden. Eigen wijn (museum in de kelder) is zeer aangename verrassing.

This was a wonderful property and just perfect for me, my two daughters and their two friends. We rented the 3-bedroom apartment for a week in April and found it to be an excellent central location from which to explore the Chianti region, Florence, Arrezo, Sienna, Pisa and other Tuscan towns. The owner Leonardo is very hospitable and helped us plan some of our daily excursions and recommended good places to dine at the end of the day. The property is set in the mountains and is in a peaceful rural location. We found the space was more than sufficient for our needs as we were really only in the apartment at the end of the day since we were using it as a base camp from which to tour. If you just want to rest in the Tuscan sun and take in the vineyards and olive groves, you could be quite happy staying fixed at Castellaccio and reading by the pool and listening to the birds (I saw lots of wildlife on my morning and evening strolls). There is a lovely pool on the property which would be the perfect start and finish of the day (alas we were there in April and it was not as inviting in the cool mountain air of the evenings). If you are planning to have a car and want to be in a remote setting, this is a great place to hide away in the Tuscan countryside but still be well positioned to travel and see many sights. If you aren't cooking for yourself, you want to be aware that you will have to travel 20 minutes or so in most directions to get to places to eat (we found many good options and didn't mind the driving). We would gladly return to Castellaccio and are very pleased with our experience.

Excellent value for the price. Very comfortable, the owner was so nice and infomative. The area is quiet and beautiful. The roads are winding and steep, a manual transmission is advised but the places you see are gorgeous. The villa was just right for us. Comfortable and clean. would give it a thumbs up

Villa was set in beautiful location and lived up to what the brochure said. The owners were very helpful with advice on what to do and where to go. We stayed in flat 1, my only regret was we didnt book something with our own outdoor dining area. Otherwise kitchen in villa was very well stocked. Very easy access into Figline for train into Florence. Lovely food in local village Duda. Would certainly recommend to families and couples as a holiday destination.

We had a wonderful time staying at Castellaccio for a week in June. The weather was excellent and accommodations superb. The villa is situated between Geve and Figline making travel very easy by car to sevral small Tuscan villages as well easy commute by train or car to Florence and Sienna. The apartment was very clean, well equipped and premises cared for immaculatly. Roxy was most helpful on check-in making sure we understood the lay of the land. We would certainoy recommend this to anyone stayiong in Tuscany. It would be very comfortable for 4.
One tip would be to lose yourself in the area stopping to eat at the numerous options in small towns around Lucelena.

We were so delighted when we drove up to our villa. It was all we had hoped for and more! The hydrangeas, roses and rosemary were aromatic and welcoming. Our host, Leonardo greeted us warmly and his assistant Roxanna reviewed all the information with us and helped us settle in. Leonardo made dinner reservations for us at a delightful restaurant a couple Km from the villa that evening, the Locanda Borgo Antico. We were warmly greeted and had a great dinner.

Other things to do - there is a pizzaria in Lucolena that has good pizza's and does take out. Not overly friendly. The Castello di Verrazzano, just out of Greve does a wonderful wine tasting/lunch which is definitely worth the 4 hours! [Ask for Gino]. We also lined up a wine tasting with Leonardo, our host, and totally enjoyed it. He takes you through the property and has you sample the wines grown right on the property. He speaks English very well which we appreciated as our Italian is poor at best. Greve has good shopping for wines, oils and a few clothing/leather shops. Also has a nice COOP grocery store [closed 1PM to about 4PM] The train station is in Figline that will take you to the cities.
He also gave us a wine tasting and tour of the property. The wines that are from the property are available for purchase and well stocked in the villa [reasonably priced].

The villa is located about half way between Greve and Figlione. [10 and 8 KM] Good access to shopping and the train. Of course the setting was magnificant! The vineyards were behind the property and the village of Lulolena was very close and lovely to view.

All the bedrooms were spacious and clean. There were personal touches such as pictures and needlepoint. The space for clothing was more that adequate.

The pool area was a wonderful surprise! We had the area to ourselves and spent a lot of time by the pool. Tables and chairs were available and the ground were beautiful! The plants were awesome, rosemary, roses, olive trees, pots of geraniums, hydrangeas...we absolutely loved it.
Sitting by the pool on a sunny afternoon makes the rest of the world seem far away! The only regret we had is that we were not there longer.

I would recommend Tuscany-Villas.it. They did an excellent job, as you can see by the ratings. Everything was as described and there were no problems with our arrival at the property and the stay.
