The Villa di Trafiano is situated on top of a hill overlooking the plain of Florence, Prato and Pistoia. It was built by Buontalenti in the 15th century, in classic reinasseince style, for the Rucellai family (right hand of the Medici family). In the 20th century was sold to the current owners the Conti Contini Bonacosi family. From the 2015 season included daily cleaning from 09.00 to 12.00. There where 9 of us staying at this villa, and we mostly enjoyed our time there. There were a few inconvenience, such as the road leading to and from Carmignano was treacherous , also don't expect much in term of services , this is not an hotel.
Daniel who is in charge of the rental process was very nice and helpfull, also don't miss their wine tour and lunch. The location is very good for launching day trips. From there we drove to the train station in Prato, , and visited Florence, Pisa , and Luca . We drove to Siena ! Vinci, and Greve for their wine festival, which was fantastic. A car and a GPS is essential , if you don't mind those crazy Italian drivers. All in all the villa experince was good with some limitations.
