Castello di Montegufoni er et eksklusivt sted at tilbringe en vidunderlig ferie i hjertet af Chianti-regionen!
Slottet går tilbage til det 12. århundrede og blev restaureret i det 17. århundrede af den adelige Acciaioli-familie, og slottet har et storslået tårn efter forbilledet Palazzo Vecchio i Firenze.
Montegufoni er en del af en stor ejendom bestående af vinmarker og oliventræer, omgivet af det smukke Chianti-landskab. I slottet er der 39 lejligheder og en stor have med en dejlig swimmingpool: det perfekte sted at slappe af og have det sjovt med familie og venner.
Dette luksuriøse slot tilbyder gæsterne utrolige ferieoplevelser (efter anmodning) såsom madlavningskurser, arrangementer, guidede ture og meget mere!
Chianti-regionen er et af de mest charmerende områder i Italien for sine kulturelle, historiske og enogastronomiske traditioner.

Es war eine idyllische Schlossatmosphäre. Die Wohnungen sind dementsprechend einfach ausgestattet. Es fehlte ein Backofen und man hatte keine normalen Steckdosen, wobei man das notwendige Zubehör kaufen musste.
Klimaanlage war vorhanden und man hatte trotz der vielen Wohnungen seine Privatsphäre.

Beautiful area to visit and explore. Accommodation was rustic but fun to stay in. It’s a very old building with much charm. Don’t expect luxury like duvets or any supplies, but it is comfortable enough. They have a pool and bar. You cannot get food before late afternoon or evening so you are on your own at this level. The restaurant is average. It’s a good base to stay in to explore the area. A fun experience. They should open the bar in the morning for coffee or cuppucinos but they do not. Good restaurants are close by. I highly recommend bistrot Lazaro in Montespertoli. Amazing food and service at that restaurant.

L'accueil est chaleureux, le cadre général est très beau et bucolique (campagne toscane, jardin du château, ...) mais nous avons été particulièrement déçus car
- le soir de notre arrivée le restaurant, comme une partie du château étaient fermés pour cause de privatisation pour mariage. Nous aurions aimé avoir une information préalable car en plus comme nous étions en fin de journée, un samedi soir, ce fut compliqué de trouver une table dans un restaurant qui était recommandé par la réception du château. Et puis, nous étions mal à l'aise de circuler dans le château parmi les invités du mariage. Résultat nous sommes restés reclus dans notre logement pour la soirée avant et après notre dîner à l'extérieur.
- le jour de notre arrivée le parking était donc complet pour cause de mariage. On nous a finalement trouvé une place après que nous ayons exprimé notre mécontentement.
- le coin terrasse donnait sur le parking ... peu d'intimité ... le va et vient des voitures et donc le soir du mariage (samedi soir), la nuit fut bruyante et mouvementée avec la fête et les déplacements de véhicules sur le parking
- nous n'avions pas d'eau chaude le 1er soir....aucune information n'avait été fournie sur comment disposer de l'eau chaude
- la salle de bain et la cuisine n'étaient pas vraiment propres .... en tous les cas comme nous l'aurions imaginé. Dans la cuisine les interrupteurs étaient gras et souillés notamment et le bac de la douche pas clean ... nous avons eu aussi des remontées nauséabondes via bonde de la douche)

Einerseits traumhaft gelegen, waren wir von der Unterkunft enttäuscht. Das Appartement war sehr dunkel und entsprach nicht dem Preisniveau. Die Ausstattung ist sehr einfach. Eine Klimaanlage fehlte, Wir sind vorzeitig abgereist, da sich die Unterkunft derart aufheizte, dass an schlafen, entspannen oder abkühlen nicht zu denken war. Ebenfalls enttäuschend war der Pool. Dieser war überlaufen, laut und bereits milchig.

Stedet er rigtig flot, der var rent og poolen var fin. Vi spiste to gange på den tilhørende restaurant, men det var en ærgerlig oplevelse begge gange. Man skal også være hurtig og booke bord, da der hurtigt bliver fyldt. Vi spurgte flere til lidt om slottets historie, men ingen vidste noget - i stedet henviste de til en flere hundrede sider tyk bog. Rigtig ærgerligt. Jeg vil ikke anbefale stedet til familie med børn, da man skal køre efter morgenmad og frokost - og muligvis også aftensmad, hvis man ikke er hurtig nok til at få bestilt bord i restauranten.

Villa Acciaioli
The area and the Castle is stunning. The villa needs aircon for summer guests and maybe a few basic provisions like insect burners, salt pepper and oil in the cupboard. Little changes would make this a perfect place to stay. The Villa Osbert was a great size for our family, but the showers were only a small dribble some days. Maybe it’s time to update a little. The coffee shop and fruit and veg shop in the little village are beautiful run by lovely people.

The castle itself is beautiful and grand but the apartment we were in (the tower) was poorly furnished, boiling hot with no airflow, poor air conditioning only in the bedroom, and hard to get bags up to (and down from). There is absolutely nothing provided - no washing up liquid, cloths, salt/pepper etc, nothing - so you have to buy everything from the shop which is 15 mins walk down a steep hill (20 mins up) and very expensive. You have to also buy the bus ticket from there - which is a pain - and then you MUST validate it on the bus otherwise you'll get fined if the inspectors get on. We didn't know that and got fined 120 euros, with no flexibility for being tourists and genuinely not realising. The pool is adequate but LOTS of nasty bite-giving bugs around (take repellent) and the beach loungers are literally just flat canvas campbeds that don't adjust position at all so not comfortable. The restaurant is at best mediocre, and is expensive. It is only open in the evenings, so the rest of the day there's no coffee, ice cream or snacks at all to buy. Overall it's in the middle of nowhere with poor facilities and if you don't have a car it doesn't have much going for it. We left two days early and came home.

La Grotta
This Castello is a fabulous experience due to the history and the setting of the Castello. The Staff is really helpful and accommodating. You are 5 minutes away from wonderful restaurants, markets and on the Strada di Chianti.
The accommodations are beautiful but not excellent because the kitchens are sparsely outfitted, no microwave, no toaster, only a coffee maker, two burner gas cooktop and a small refrigerator. It is hard to feed a family for a week out of the kitchens. There is no air conditioning in any of the rooms, nor screens on the windows. Beautiful place! Overall it is 4 stars because even though the room was nice and very clean, the castle itself is not super well maintained, I wonder if it is because of COVID. So for example I thought there would be a restaurant open also in the morning for breakfast, but it wasn’t the case, which is a pitty not to take advantage of the beautiful terrace and not being able to have a cappuccino :) Aside from this aspect it was anyway worth it! The area is simply splendid and we booked ebikes for 2 days, which was a great way to really experience the Tuscan hills and the area around. It is a bit far from Florence, so take that into account if you are planning to go on a day trip to the city, however there is anyway a bus that you can take! All in all I would return there with pleasure!

Ideal destination for a large group!
My husband and I loved our room in the castle it was charming and very clean. All together our group was 10, we enjoyed our breakfast and dinners on the covered patio, wandering around the picturesque grounds and quiet nights. There isn’t too much to do without taking the transit or hiring your own transportation, but we were prepared for that so it wasn’t an issue. A beautiful and historic Castello with great staff and a lovely good, and well-priced restaurant. The village nearby was pretty dead (holiday season) with very little open, so you had to travel 5km away to Montespertoli which did have a few cafes/restaurants and a decent Coop to get groceries etc. The situation was great for travelling around to Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano, Lucca etc. We had a wine tasting at Corbucci winery which was great fun (about 20 minutes away), and we visited the Rinuccio restaurant, part of the Marchese Antinori wine estate which was an architectural wonder!

Staff were great, especially the lovely German lady (I am sorry I didn't ask her name) who was always at the restaurant or bar - I am not sure when she slept!
I read a few unfavourable reviews online before going, but they all seem to be focused on lack of maid service. This is a self catering property rather than a hotel - I wouldn't expect maid service.
There are also some reviewer's photos showing the pool a dirty green colour - they are winter photos when the pool is closed. In summer the pool is blue and crystal clear with a good number of quality loungers and chairs.
It is a very interesting property with lots of narrow winding staircases leading to unusual and unique guest rooms. Rooms are converted from the castle state rooms (grand drawing rooms with beautiful artwork on the ceilings), servant quarters (romantic attics with hidden balconies) and stables (spacious family apartments). There are stunning views from the pool, restaurant and some rooms.
We were in Montegufoni 31 - a great 3 bedroom apartment in the stable block. As I would expect it had more of a rustic cottage feel compared to some of the signature rooms in the main castle but very spacious, clean and well furnished. Perfect for our family.
There was a wedding while we were there. A little inconvenient as the restaurant was closed for a night and the pool got a bit crowded a couple of times when a lot of the wedding guests congregated there. It was worth it though because they decorated the courtyard and gardens with fairy lights which were really enchanting.Vil du anbefale denne ejendom til en ven? Ja

Our Family (2 adults, 2 children) spent the Holiday at Montegufoni #4 in July this year. At first we were disappointed because the booking Company had not written in their description of the Apartment that it was not located in the main Building but around the area. The design of the appartment though was really beautiful well renovated. The Overall Service was excellent. We had a bed that was making funny noises screetiching and within 1 day the complete bed was exchanged. Within 30 minutes from a request the Counter would send someone to take care of the issue. The pool is very nice. The kitchen is not well equipped. No coffee machine, no bottle opener, no scissors and knife and forkes are very old. The outside Patio was not attractive but very sunny. Altoghether we had a very nice Holiday at Montegufoni.

The site is beautiful. We did our search for a room with air conditioning as a required element and Montegufoni showed up, but the room I selected did not had air conditionning. This was very disapointing. Be careful which room you select. On top of that our bathroom was not clean and the ceiling was full of mold.

Wonderful castle with great grounds, restaurant, pool and personnel. We had an exceptional stay and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. As we slept on the third floor, we had to use fans to combat the June heat but the rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. We wholeheartedly recommend the facility.

It is a very beautiful castle with lovely scenic views. We were there in June. The rooms were very spacious and nice. It is very accessible to other towns in Tuscany. The staff was very helpful throughout our stay. The only problem we had was the mosquitoes. We had our windows shut throughout the nights although a few managed to come through..otherwise everything else was great!

This castle is so authentic, built c. 1300! The staff in the restaurant are wonderful and the view cannot be beat! We had an amazing, relaxing stay that was just what we needed on our otherwise exhausting tour of Italy.

La Grotta
We loved this place. It’s not a hotel, so don’t have those expectations. It’s like renting an apartment. The La Grotta apartment was awesome, the frescos painted on the ceiling in every room were something you could look at the whole stay and there were beautiful views of the country side out the windows. The property grounds were fantastic as well, with tons of flowers and plants all around and in the gardens. Definitely made our trip an amazing experience staying here.

Es ist eine einzigartige Erfahrung, in diesem Schloß zu übernachten. In der Gegend gibt es fast auf jedem Hügel ein Schloß oder ein Weingut. Für den Preis haben wir aber sonst nichts gefunden. Ratsam ist allerdings ein Appartement mit Aussicht. Unseres (montegufoni 28) war das günstigste (Fenster liegt zu hoch und geht in den Hof). Das Schloß mit den Gärten drumherum ist aber sehr idyllisch.

We didn't find anything else for the price. An apartment with a view is advisable. Ours (montegufoni 28) was the cheapest (window is too high and faces the courtyard). Beautiful and historical castle with spectacular views of the countryside around. Our accommodation was part of some buildings adjacent to the castle which had been very sympathetically decorated in a rustic shabby chic style, with lovely views from all sides. However, it was situatedin a shady spot which was a shame as we were unable to sit outside and enjoy the Tuscan sunshine. The amenities in the kitchen had also seen better days with a couple of the appliances perhaps needing to be renewed and utensils a bit thin on the ground. Lovely towels and bedding were supplied however and the bathrooms and bedrooms very nice. The staff in reception were very helpful and the grounds of the castle and the swimming pool were in a lovely setting. Just one major fly in the ointment - the weekend after we arrived a huge group of about 60 Swedish guests arrived who seem to think it was their right to take the whole place over. They told us that we were unable to use the pool as they had hired it for the weekend for themselves but as we were also paying guests and had not been told otherwise by the staff, we stayed in the pool but did in the end feel bullied out of it especially when they took the one sunbed that was available for us to use and put their things on it over the top of our things. That night and the following night they had a disco set up with very loud music that went on until well after 1 in the morning and could be heard from where our accommodation was. They also had a huge dinner in the courtyard of the castle and when we wanted to get to the restaurant the gates were locked around the outside and the only way through was by walking through their dinner and speeches and we didn’t feel that we wanted to do that. Thankfully they had all left by Monday morning and we were able to continue enjoying our holiday. We do feel that if the Castle wishes to take these large parties of people, then in fairness to other guests, they should close the rest of the Castle and not take any bookings for other people until the large group has departed. We did hear other guests who were staying near us complaining about the loud music to each other, so we know it wasn’t just us. EasyReserve as a company dealt with our booking well, although when I emailed them a couple of times with a couple of queries they were very slow in replying, so one time I telephoned using the number for the local rate, to find that I had been charged £7! If I had had a reply to my email I would not have got this charge. With the moans over, I would say that Castle Montegufoni is a lovely place to stay in Tuscany with a couple of of small villages nearby for basic shopping needs, and not too far from Pisa airport or Florence.

Bad sehr klein, die Küche nur schlecht mit Kochutensilien ausgestattet, beim Gasherd funktionierten nur 2 Flammen.
Im Aussenbereich fehlten Sitzmöglichkeiten, auch am Pool gab es nicht genügend Liegen.

Our Tuscany vacation was made so much more enjoyable by our stay in the Galleria. Everyone was very helpful and even went out of their way to help with anything that came up. The grounds were beautiful. We did not have problems with wifi in the Galleria and all 8 of us had a wonderful time. It is a castle. The first night was cold but after the heat was on for a full day it heated up well. The main restaurant was closed as this was the last week of March but the other restaurant was open. The food was excellent. If you want the experience of a lifetime and don't need to be pampered Montegufoni is for you. We loved it and would recommend it to young and the young at heart.

Contra: The appartment lies outside of the castle, it has now own outside-sitting-area or any balcony, there is no A/C in the appartment, one of the bedrooms has no window, the appartment is very dark inside, all installations in the bathrooms and the kitchen (e.g. taps and showers) are very run-down and partially out of order, the kitchen equipment comprises only a minimum (e.g. only 4 cups and 4 glasses - therefore, you constantly have to clean the dishes), there is no dishwasher, there are no basics in the kitchen and you have to buy evreything new (e.g. salt, pepper, sugar, washing-up liquid)

The setting of the castle is very pretty, typical Tuscan.

We had the best time staying at Castello di Montegufoni. The Galleria apartment was exactly what we were looking for when we were planning our group stay in an Italian castle. Stores and other restaurants were really close, so that was super helpful so we could stock our apartment with food and supplies. Highly recommended - we hope to come back someday!

We are a family of five. We stayed for six nights in il cardinalle (room 24). It was the worst experience of our one-month trip in Spain and Italy. It was a hot week for sure and the mosquitoes were probably more abundant than usual. But taking that out of the equation the place is not good. Very expensive for very little.
We paid almost 1800 euros (300 euros a night) for a place with bed bugs, hot as an oven, and very little light. No cleaning at all. They only clean when people leave. And the bathrooms were dirty when we got there. They don't even give you soap or trash bags to last your entire stay. Six days requires more than one trash bag. Forget about changing sheets and towels. Nothing.
The restaurant is expensive but in a nice setting. There are few tables around the property but they are always occupied. So you can't even sit out at night.
I cooked light breaksfast and dinners on most days. I had to use my iphone light and a small flashlight from my home because the kitchen area is very dark. I asked the office four times to replace the bulbs that were broken in the few light fixtures around the place. They told me they would take care of it but I gave up after the 4th request.
The tiny refrigerator did not work properly. I didn't even ask to have it fixed. There was no hope it would.
I took pictures of the bed bug bites we all got for evidence. Really bad. We suffered. We actually saw them crawling on our bed. We do recognize bed bugs. You can try yourself doing a bed bug lineup - see https://www.nytimes.com/topic/subject/bedbugs
We are sure some of the bites we all have are from bed bugs. This means all the beds have bed bugs.
The idea that one would stay in a "castle" is cool. It also has a pool. It sounded good. That notion though comes with the realization that things would be rustic, not a hotel-type thing. You have to adjust. We expected that. But this place is beyond rustic and VERY expensive for what you get. There are basic things such a lighting, clean mattresses, clean bathroom, working appliances, etc. that are expected at a relatively decent place. This place does not meet basic comfort for what they charge. Better stay at a hostel.
The staff was nice. It is the fault of the oweners and management that this place is of lower standard.
The staff tried hard to listen and they did give us an extra fan when we told them one was not working in one of the rooms. That helped. But not enough to get a better rating.
The area is cute and the grounds are probably beautiful during other times of the year. Visiting without staying is probably the best bet unless the owners/management makes major changes.
[counter comments from the owners] We offer apartments, not hotel rooms and therefore during the stay our guests have to provide for cleaning and cleaning items themselves. Extra cleaning can be organized against supplement payment though. Sheets and towels are changed once a week. In case our guests need more towels or sheets it's possible to get them against supplement payment.
Regarding the tables and seats around the property, we will try to improve !
Regarding the light in the apartment, we will definitely take a look at that and fix. No other guests before or after you have complained about the fridge so may be the temperature had been turned down or up in the wrong way. We will of course check.
We are truely sorry but no other guest has ever complained about bed bugs in our property.
In general, we try not to distort the style of the castle by making too significant changes, but we will try to fulfill our shortcomings.
When you booked you knew that there was no air conditioning in the apartment, this summer was exceptionally hot and we could not do anything but provide fans.
Surely outside of the top season, the stay at the Castle is better because of the lower temperatures and because there are less people around. We do thank you however for your valauble comments.

Wir wohnten im Nebengebäude vom Schloss welches direkt an einer Straße lag. Insbesondere am Wochenende war an Schlaf kaum zu denken, da die Autos und Motorräder mit hoher Geschwindigkeit direkt am Fenster vorbeifuhren.
Zum Haus ist zu sagen, dass die Fotos den Zustand besser darstellen als es in Wirklichkeit ist. Die Austattung der Küche ist mäßig. Man sollte einiges von zu Hause mitbringen. Geschirrs ist nur 4-Fach vorhanden.
Pool und Außenanlage ist in Ordnung, aber wenig gepflegt.
Vor Ort ist fast ständig ein Büro für die Gäste besetzt, allerdings lässt die die Freundlichkeit sowie Hilfsbereitschaft zu wünschen übrig. Ein Lichtblick ist der GUISEPPE, der gutgelaunte Hausmeister des Anwesens.
Schade, wir hatten mehr erwartet. Nur, wer unbedingt mal in einem Schloss wohnen möchte, dem ist eine Buchung zu empfehlen, dann aber darauf achten, dass man nicht in einem der vielen Nebengebäude landet.

We lived in the outbuilding of the castle which was right on a street. Especially on the weekends sleep was hard to imagine, as the cars and motorcycles drove past the window at high speed.

In July, 2017, my family, Grandchildren, and some friends reserved several rooms at the Castillo de Montegufoni, and what an exceptional and magical vacation we experienced for 7 days. We initially wanted to reserve some apartments somewhere in Italy for a family holiday, when we came upon this website, while searching for a unique Italian vacation. After researching the Castillo de Montegufoni and reading all the reviews, we decided to make our reservations at this castle, which was located approximately 45 minutes west of Florence. We booked our rooms at the Castillo de Montegufoni, but within months of making our reservations, our son and his fiancé decided that they wanted to get married in this castle. We were a bit apprehensive since we thought this location would be a fun vacation venue, but sight unseen, we were concerned about it now possibly becoming a wedding destination. To make a long beautiful story, a bit shorter, this was the most picturesque, magical, and spectacular location we could have ever selected.
The rooms were all uniquely different but perfect, the gardens and grounds were impeccable, the restaurant foods at the castle and in town were amazingly delicious, and the castle staff and service, especially Paula and Stefania, were so remarkably helpful, enjoyably pleasant, and constantly professional, on every single day we were there.
As a summation, and as we stated in the beginning of this review, the Castillo de Montegufoni became an exceptional and magical vacation for our entire family and we witnessed one of the most beautiful weddings ever! I was very excited abut having the opportunity to stay in the castle at Montegufoni. as it turned out we were in a building not attached to the castle. This was not obvious to me when I booked my stay. In addition, there was no Air Conditioning and it was very hot. The management told us they could not change our room because there were completely booked and that we made the reservation so it was not their problem. Warning to verify all facts before booking.

Loved everything about the castle except for the A/C and bug situation which is something I checked on prior to renting based on TripAdvisor reviews. The available A/C in the bedrooms is VERY misleading. We were happy to pay for this service - but, they did not cool at all. Hardly any air flow - looked like the filters were long overdue for a change. Perhaps that was the issue? There were no screens in the apartment, so we eventually bought some bug spray and relied on Bug spray and cold showers to make it through each night. We were there for 9 days; did not have a restful night's sleep during our entire stay. The nights were miserable to say the least. They shouldn't charge renters for this service. Frankly, they should yank the units out and install screens and be honest with renters from the start. Had we known what to expect from the beginning, we would've packed some bug spray and managed our expectations. As it stands, we feel like we were taken advantage of on this front. I haven't received an itemized list of final charges, but I'm sure this was part of our final bill. One other recommendation - communicate with your guests on wonderful amenities like the grocery delivery service. We stumbled across this option mid-trip after spending a lot of time and money procuring groceries on the way to the castle from the airport and hauling them along with our luggage when we checked in. Wish we had known about the grocery delivery prior. Other than the A/C issue, the staff was friendly, we enjoyed several meals at the restaurant and the castle/views were beautiful.

Il aurait été apprécier de fournir un minimum comme par exemple un peu de savon pour la vaisselle et des sacs à ordure (2 sacs pour 2 semaines...) quand on sait que l'on doit payer 95euros pour le ménage final, on s'attend à un minimum de propreté... décevant sur ce point.

Das Schloss ist sehr schön gelegen und durch Alter und Einrichtung sehr beeindruckend. Das Restaurant ist sehr empfehlenswert. Wir hatten das Apartment Nr 36 mit 2 Schafzimmern und 2 Bädern. Die Einrichtung war sehr urig und typisch für die Region. Die Ausstattung war allerdings sehr spartanisch. Nur das nötigste Geschirr. Nicht mal ein Wasserkocher oder ein Toaster. Einen Backofen haben wir ganz besonders vermisst. So konnte man nicht mal ein paar Brötchen oder eine Pizza aufbacken. In dem Begrüßungsprospekt das uns überreicht wurde, hieß es "hier werden Sie nur vom Zwitschern der Vögel geweckt". Das war leider überhaupt nicht so. Die Straße direkt neben dem Apartment wird morgens zwischen 05.00 und 08.00 Uhr von den Bewohnern von Montegufoni als Rennstrecke zur Arbeitsstelle genutzt. Aufgrund der nicht vorhandenen Isolation der Fenster und Wände hört sich das an, als wenn alle mitten durch das Haus fahren. Am zweiten Tag reiste einen Gruppe von 112 Leuten an - überwiegend im Alter von 20-30 Jahren. Von da an (bis zum folgenden Sonntag) war der Pool rund um die Uhr belegt und es wurde bis morgens um 04.00 Uhr (am Samstag bis 06.10 Uhr) Party gemacht. Mittelpunkt war ein Ghettoblaster der allerfeinsten Sorte mit Extrasuperbass. Beschwerden (nicht nur von uns) bei der Hotelleitung führten dazu, dass die Musik etwas leise wurde, dafür der Bass aber um so mehr dröhnte. Nachdem diese Gruppe abgezogen ist, kam eine eine größere Gesellschaft, die u.a. auch in das bis dahin leerstehende Apartment neben uns eingezogen sind. Wenn dort jemand sprach oder Geräusche machte, hatten wir den Eindruck, dass die in unserem Zimmer stehen. Wir haben noch nie so schlecht und so wenig im Urlaub geschlafen (die Matratzen sind übrigens auch mieß). Schade, es hätte so schön sein können :-(

The castle is very nicely located and by age and decor very impressive. The restaurant is highly recommended. We had apartment # 36 with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The decor was very rustic and typical of the region. The equipment was however very basic. Only the most necessary dishes. Not even a water cooker or a toaster. We missed an oven. So you could not even bake a few rolls or a pizza. In the welcome report presented to us, it was said that "you are only woken by the chirping of birds". Unfortunately this was not the case at all. The road next to the apartment is used as a racetrack by the inhabitants of Montegufoni in the morning between 5 am and 8 am. Due to the lack of isolation of the windows and walls, it sounds like everyone is driving through the house. On the second day, a group of 112 people arrived - mostly at the age of 20-30 years. From then on (until the following Sunday) the pool was occupied around the clock and it was party until 4 am (Saturday to 06.10 clock). Complaints (not only of us) with the hotel management led to the music was only a little bit quiet... After this group left, a larger company came, which among other things moved into also in the until then resettled apartment beside us. When someone spoke or made noise, we had the impression that they were in our room. We have never slept so badly and so little on vacation (the mattresses are also bad). It could have been so nice...

il nostro appartamento si trovava nella dependance del castello, posto meraviglioso. L'appartamento è composto da 3 camere matrimoniali di cui una con bagno in camera e le altre due con bagno esterno (tutti e tre ristrutturati recentemente e con doccia ). al piano sopra c'è un'altra stanza senza porta con due letti singoli.
Il proprietario della villa non lo abbiamo mai visto, per fortuna il custode Rodrigo ha fatto il possibile per farci avere la legna ed accedere il camino. Quella casa era gelida pur avendo richiesto l'accensione dei termosifoni con anticipo ( considerando il fatto che il riscaldamento si paga a parte 25 € al giorno). Siamo riusciti a scaldarla quando ormai era il momento di andare via.
Non c'è il forno ma solo il microonde, è presenta la lavastoviglie senza detersivo e sale.
Il custode veramente disponibile in tutto.

Wonderful experience at the castle. We really enjoyed our stay here and it was absolutely a highlight of our holiday. If you are staying here though, renting a car is a must. It was very difficult to get around anywhere. We did hire ebikes which was loads of fun, however a car would've been much better!

The people managing this location were excellent with all the assistance you could ever require. Their maintenance man even rescued a valued ring that slipped off a finger and went down the drain, by taking apart the drain to retrieve it.
The food in the restaurant is exactly what you would expect from a restaurant in this area. We ate at many local places and all were top notch.

We had a great stay at the castle and thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing time in the grounds and the surrounding countryside. Most supplies you will need for your stay are a short walk away in the tiny village to the south west, as well as buses into Firenze (which is highly recommended). Would highly recommend!

The ambience of this medieval castle was amazing. It surpassed our expectations. Our only disappointment was that there were no screens on any of our three bedroom windows, which allowed bats to enter our rooms. We had to keep the windows closed, which was not good on hot nights. This was a wonderful getaway from the hubbub of the crowded sites of Tuscany. The castle is in close proximity to many of those sites, especially if you have a car, and the setting couldn't find more idyllic Chianti country if you tried. The premises itself is grand, a touch austere and yet very comfortable. The staff is pleasant and helpful and the onsite restaurant and bar actually offers very good fare at a fairly reasonable price. My wife, teenaged kids and I all enjoyed Montegufoni enormously and are likely to return!

my name is kaye parker and there was 6 in our party. oh my where to start from the mtime we arrived to the time we left our stay at montegufoni was awesome. the staff alone made the stay wonderful. our rooms were great and comfortable. the grounds were just breat taking, so well kept. we could not have ask for a better place to stay. the one nice thing its only 30 min. from florince for sightseeing, and the train to roam was right there. we would go back to montequfoni in a heartbeat. the last thing is we felt that for the cost of our rooms it maid it very afordable. this place was more than we could have wished for.

We loved it! Absolutely beautiful building and environment. Lovely and quiet and we often felt we were the only ones there, even by the pool, although it was busier at different times of the day. Guests were friend, discreet staff in the office were helpful and friendly. Very spacious rooms, all equipment we needed and clean. We booked at the last minute so didn't have a huge choice of rooms. This one was a little dark and we didn't really want to eat indoors, so we took our breakfast downstairs and outside. Would love to go here again.

Appartement is zeer geschikt voor 4/5 personen. Twee ruime slaapkamers met eigen badgelegenheid. De huiskamer is vrij karig ingericht maar beschikt over een goed bed voor een 5e persoon. Kleine keuken, je kunt er echter wel een maaltijd in bereiden. Geen wasmachine, koffiezetapparaat,vaatwasser. Nadeel van dit appartement was het terras. Dit was erg klein en feitelijk niet bruikbaar. Wij hebben daarom gebruik gemaakt van het tegenover gelegen tuingedeelte, hetgeen een redelijk alternatief was. De terrassen bieden bij de appartementen in dit gebouw geen privacy en liggen dicht op elkaar.
Er is een klein zwembad bij het kasteel met ligstoelen er omheen en een mooie aangrenzende tuin met voldoende schaduw waar je heerlijk kunt zitten. Goede uitvalsbasis voor Florence, Pisa, Siena, Volterra, Luca.
Restaurant van het hotel heeft een zeer beperkte kaart. Er zijn echter genoeg geschikte alternatieven in de buurt.

The living room has pretty sparse furnishings but has a good bed for a 5th person. Small kitchen, you can prepare a meal however. No washing machine, coffee maker, dishwasher. The disadvantage of this apartment was the terrace. This was very small and not actually usable. We have therefore used the opposite garden area, which was a reasonable alternative. The terraces of the apartments in this building offer no privacy and are close to each other.
There is a small pool at the castle with sun loungers around it and a nice adjoining garden with plenty of shade where you can sit. Good base for Florence, Pisa, Siena, Volterra, Lucca.

We had our wedding at this castle and stayed there for a week with our guests. Valentina was superb in helping us plan the wedding from abroad and her suggestions were absolutely fabulous. Our guests simply rave about the wedding ceremony/reception and the whole event and Valentina was the one who made it all happen: she is a true professional! The castle itself is simply marvellous, full of history, very functional and the staff (including Giuseppe who makes sure everything is in working order) are very kind and helpful. This week was by far one of our best vacations ever and the wedding is recognized by all our guests as just amazing!

Truly an experience that took our party of 4 back 5 centuries. The facilities are marvelous in that their reconstruction captures the artwork and thereby the essence of 15th and 16 century lifestyles in Tuscany. The introduction of modern facilities in no way counters the beauty of the castle, but on the contrary enhances the experience of today's contemporary traveler, who may just bicycle to the castle in order to fully breathe in the countryside, but upon arrival, would like to shower and dine at his/her convenience.

What a wonderful place to stay! Easy to get to many citiies, the bus to Florence worked well and was so close to the location. We would travel during the day and then spend time at the pool and relax. The views were amazing! The apartment was well equipped with everything we needed, very spacious and very clean. We slept well in the comfortable beds. The staff was very helpful and nice. I did laundry one day and it was easy to do and convenient. The castle is amazing, beautiful and one of our favorite things about the trip. I would suggest it to anyone, including families with children that want to be in the tuscany area, great views and also away from the crowds. A small town is just down the hill with a bus stop, stores, coffee, etc. We loved our stay!

We have had a magnificent time with our stay at the Castle at Montegugoni . We rented one of the villas inside the castle for the month and had 4 of our children come and visit witn us for a week . The staff were lovely and very helpful . The restaurant on site was so handy for meals and very accommodating for when our family were there. The country side is beautiful and surroundings villages are very accessible from the castle with your car . There is plenty of information given to you by staff for all surrounding villages . It is only about 29 km from Florence and we made at least 8 visits there . We made trips from there to Rome , Assisi ,Cinque Terre, Pisa , San Giminano , Seina,and Arezzo . A lovely winery up the road from the Castle is fascinating and one of the most prestigious Italian wine makers Frescobaldi Family . I have no hesitation in recommending Castle Di Montegufoin to fellow travellers.

I would not stay at this place unless you had a rental car. Dont stay in August all restaurants in near by villages shut because of holidays those are the ones you can walk to.The Restaurant at the Castle has very limited menu choice once you have eaten there two nights you have tried everything.They could improve the situatiuon by renting out bikes or scooters which they dont do I mentioned this to the reception. The Taxi drivers who are local gouge guests if you use them. We wanted to go 5kms to a retaurant for a meal. The Taxi driver wanted to charge us 90 euros because he had to wait for us. This is unacceptable, they need to find a better and more fair way of getting guests to nearby villages. 65 euros to drive into Florence if you use the local taxi drivers. We got a taxi from the Florence railway station to Montifigunni for 47 euros so there is a fair bit of scalping going on be warned

A location with style in an old mansion or castle. Very impressive and the apartment was spacious enough with everything as it should be. Only drawback was the checking in at only 5 pm and when we arrived half an hour early we still had to wait (other places were a little more flexible).

The Galleria appartment is huge, there is really no way to prepare yourself for the size of the living room/ball room. It occupies an entire wing of the castle. The team on site were very nice and accommodating. The castle is old and needs some more TLC . You can really tell the building is very very old. However the facilities are nice. Getting in there the only thing missing was the butler.... With an apartment this big you need one. The living room is 24 meters from one end to the other. Add 10-11m more before you hit the front door. No AC - but fans do the trick to keep you cool at night.

We had a really good time and the property we stayed in was excellent. The facilities were very good and a very nice relaxed atmosphere. Staying in the castle was a great experience however the sound proofing is not that great, however this is to be expected in such an old building - there are notices to keep volumes down between certain times 11pm - 8am.
Our biggest mistake was not preparing for Mosquitos...I would suggest that everyone going here buys a zapper before they go and plug in well before going to sleep...we made the silly mistake of letting a few in after our first night out and we suffered because of this for a few days.
Great weather, lots to do, many places to see - Siena is the best though in my opinion and only 45 mins away in a car.
One last thing, if you are going to rent a car, I would swerve trying to get a cheap deal and stick to a known company such as Europcar as you will incur many hidden charges and potentially not the car you ordered - a few people we met had the same issue.
With regards to the Villas / castle - highly recommended and great value for money...oh if you do go, when you come out of the resort, drive through Barccaiano, turn right and head along that road for about 3 minutes and you will find a lovely little restaurant on the right hand side - fantastic food and service!

I thought the entire experience was great. The castle was more beautiful than I thought it would be, and the location was perfect. Our apartment was great and just as it was described. We would definitely use Easy Reserve again and would stay at the castle again. The only suggestion I would have would be to give extra towels to the apartments and warn about the mosquitos in the summer.

On the first morning the Tuscan sunrise streamed into our room and chided us to awake and take in the magnificient view - it was breathtaking! The rolling hills around the Castle Montegufoni over the course of the week changed glorious autumn colours. Our room, was perfectly comfortable - so much so we almost forgot to leave.
The Castle location enabled very easy jaunts around the Chianti countryside (use a GPS!!)
The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly.

The two bedroom cottage known as Montegufoni #32 worked very well for 2 mature adults and 2 grown granddaughters. There was plenty of space for privacy, as well as together time. We especially enjoyed the outside table and chairs, overlooking the beautiful Tuscan countryside.

The property is one of the most incredible places where we have stayed while we were in Italy with a very nice swimming pool and garden. It is very centraly situated and the very efficient and friendly Reception staff will give you lots of nearby places to visit and how to get there. The staff all speak very good English. Also try out the Restaurant as they make really nice food and the menu changes daily. Bring Mosquito repellent.

Excellent service by Easy Reserve and a wonderful destination and stay had in the Castle. In total there were 11 in the family who stayed in 4 different rooms (all which were terrific), and all agreed what a super time had been had by all.
The views, weather, swimming pool, locality, gardens and history of the place was just amazing, the restaurant was also excellent.

We stayed at Castello di Montegufoni 4-11 July 2011. Everyone there was amazingly friendly and helpful! The reception folks gave excellent advice and were a great help on where to go, what to see, and how to get there -- they are real experts on the area. They were so very nice our entire stay, and they even loaned us 2 fans for use while we were there. The chef in their restaurant made us really feel like family. He came out to greet the guests every night. My wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary there and he really made the celebration dinner special!
About the only complaint I can think of is no air conditioning, and bring bug spray since you'll have to leave the windows open at night.
In all, Montegufoni is beyond beautiful with an incredible location that's central to all of Tuscany! I would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone!

We stayed at Montegufoni 4 for 5 nights in July and used it as a base to see all of Tuscany. I would say that it was an excellent location close to most of th cities we stayed. We went to Siena, San G., Lucca, Pisa, Florence and Montelpulciano. The location was great to visit all those locales. The people at the castle were friendly and very helpful and the restaurant on site served up great food with a great view. There was even a great restaurant at a small town less than 1.5 km walk from the castle. The rooms were big and comfortable too.
The only main complaint that I had is they make too much noise picking up the garbage too early in the morning and the pool was super chlorinated. (great pool but bring gogles for the kids) [Owner reply - due to the high temperatures during this period the chlorine levels needed to be raised to maintain the water quality. The garbage pickup times are regulated by the town, we have asked them to change the schedule but we have to wait to see if they accept our request.]

We had a wonderful time at this property. Our accommodations were as expected - nothing too fancy but everything we needed. The area was great - the views spectacular. The check-in process was hassle-free and all of the people there were very friendly. The food at the restaurant was great. If we have one recommendation for improvement it is regarding the chlorination of the pool. It was a very clean and refreshing pool, however the water smelled very strongly of bleach (i.e. laundry bleach) rather than chlorine or bromine that might be used in a pool. Not a big deal - everything else was sublime!

The location was excellent. The accommodation and food was also very good. We were told not to make any noise after 11 pm which is exactly what we would expect. However the first two nights of our stay were spoilt because of a wedding party which carried on until 5.30 am full volume screaming, singing etc. both nights. We complained to Reception in the morning and were amazed to be told that there would be another wedding party arriving that day. We asked for a discount as the holiday was not as advisertised but this was not forthcoming. We were moved to La Tettoia an apartment away from the Castle. Although it was quieter we could still hear the partying well into the early morning. Also the boiler in this property regularly stopped working so we had no hot water and we had to search for the handyman to fix it. There is also a washing machine available for clients to use but this regularly blew a fuse thus your washing was stuck in the machine.

Wir kannten das Castello schon aus früheren Jahren und fanden es unverändert schön. Der Pool ist gut gepflegt wie alles. Wir hatten ein App. außerhalb des Schlosses, aber mit wunderschöner Aussicht auf die toskanische Landschaft, so dass wir es jederzeit wieder buchen würden. Sowohl die Jugendlichen (3) als auch wir waren sehr zufrieden. Besonders angenehm ist, dass ein Bus praktisch von vor dem Haus (oder manche auch vom nächsten Ort, ca. 1 km) nach Florenz fährt, so dass man sich die nervige und teure Parkplatzsuche dort sparen kann. Das Personal war durchgehend sehr nett und zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit.

My wife and I along with our two daughters thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return without a second thought. Our apatment with two bedrooms, two baths and kitchen fit our needs prfectly. An ideal place from which to explore the country side. Dinners were varied and of high quality. Our waitperson, Olga, was extremely friendly and conscientious. The chef provide us with a special treat on our last night. We enjoyed sharing dinning with local residents as well. All staff members were professional and extremely helpful.

great place. very central to all of Tuscany sites. will stay there again. internet was free and fast. wish the property or booking manager would have highlighted the fact that you should buy your own food for breakfast 'right away'. between early closing and days off, places to buy things late in the day get few and far between. the staff were very helpful and kind. the restaurant chef was generous with portions and lemoncello.

We loved the Montegufoni property and the vistas overlooking the hills and vineyards was exceptional. Our room was comfortable and had beautiful views from the bedroom and the living area. The living area had a well-appointed kitchenette and a very nice patio where we enjoyed wine and cheese with friends in the evening overlooking the property and neighboring hillsides. The only negative about the Bastione room is that the bedroom, bathroom,and living area are all on different floors. There is a stone spiral staircase separating each level and you go up and down stairs alot.

We were pleasantly suprised by Montegufoni 4 and had the BEST time there. Its close proximity to town for supplies and the peace and quiet were great. The restaurant was superb. Castle Montegufoni was outstanding. Some of the pluses:
- beautiful property with stunning hill-top views of the Tuscan countryside, without having to drive treacherous switch-back roads to get there (such roads are a-plenty in Tuscany).
- nice pool and well-kept, lovely grounds
- great location: 30 minute drive to Florence; 45 minute drive to San Gimignano; 60 minute drive to Pisa
- spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean villa
- friendly, accomodating staff (I was encouraged to use the castle's computer for as long as I needed to book a side-trip to Venice, and they bent over backwards to take care of me when I needed some very minor first aid.)
- access to a modern washing machine that works well
- excellent price for what you get
I suggest staying in one of the villas apart from the main castle, as we did (our villa was no. 32). These villas are probably quieter, and you can drive right up to them to unload your suitcases, thereby avoiding the steep walk up the gravel hill with luggage.
The only less-than stellar aspect was the meal at the Castle's restaurant. It was good value: 24 euro for five courses. And you can't beat the ambience or the pleasure of enjoying the fine castle wine knowing that it's just a few steps to your villa. But we had better food elsewhere. I still think it's worth eating there one evening for the experience. For better food, I recommend:

Another good restaurant is at the end of Baccaiano. It's on the left side, near a large parking lot that looks like a park and ride. There's also a hotel there. If you start up the hill to Montespertoli, you've gone too far.

Just wanted to tell you and your staff what a marvelous time we had at your castle. The castle was a real jewel. We stayed in Montegufoni 9 and everything was wonderful. We loved Guisseppe, even though English was tough for him. Loved all your staff, the cook, receptionist etc.

We had such an amazing time! The castle was so wonderful and the staff
that we did come in contact with were all so great! We spent one
morning just walking the castle grounds; exploring and admiring the
beauty! Our room was wonderful! We only had to pay for heat the first
night, as there was no one to turn ours off when we arrived at 9:30pm.
The temperture in the room without the heat was perfect! We like the
colder weather.
We will definitely be returning to Italy. We would like to return to
Montegufoni. The surrounding areas were great! Everyone we ran into in

We recently stayed at the Castello di Montegufoni, and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. LeTizia and Giuseppe were wonderful at accomodating their guests. The property was clean and beautiful. The views were spectacular. Our apartment was everything we expected. We had more than enough space, and slept well in the quiet of the castle. The castle was an easy drive to Florence, Lucca, Siena, Pisa, San Gimagnano, the Chianti area, the coast, and other attractions. The apartment is beautiful and we loved our time there. We found the apartment quite dark inside and a little cold in September with its stone floors. I would suggest more lighting and more floor rugs for this time of year.
The apartment was perfectly clean and a joy to stay in. Lovely being so close to Florence and yet have such lovely views. Giuseppe and Simona were the only people we meet really and they were both lovely, especially Simona who wanted to be helpful all the time and her collegue who ran the bar on Sundays.

The castle was a great place to vacation with friends. The rooms were interesting and so different that anything else we could have chosen! Montegufoni is near enough to Florence that it was an easy day trip, and we were so glad to not be staying in the city! The views from the castle are amazing. We were two middle-age couples that shared a two bedroom-two bath apartment. and we were delighted with the accomodation and hospitality. The reception people spoke english and were very helpful. It is a great location close to Florence, Siena, and Chianti area. Plenty to see around this location. We had a car and loved the countryside. We would definitely go back when we have the opportunity. Price is reasonable and fair.

The whole area is beautiful a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the scenery. A great place to go to for artists. Also plenty to do and see. Italian people so friendly and helpful. I would recommend Castello Di Montefugoni wholeheartedly and have warm memories of how well we were looked after condsidering that there were 83 people in our wedding party.

Montegufoni is a famous Tuscan Castle, and as often happens with historical properties like this one, there are in place National and Local laws preventing works aimed to transform the building just to add some amenities and comforts that are easily available at home or in a hotel. These properties mantain their personality and flavour also because of their difference from more commercial and standardized facilities.
On a more technical note, regarding the apartment you booked, there was not mention of A/C or window screens in its description.
